Girls Teams and Wildcats

Merstham Wildcats was launched in June 2020 as a turn up and play session for girls aged 5-11. It has proved extremely popular and has successfully created four girls teams entering into league football. The first two in 2022 and another two in 2023. The girls division is continuing to grow, with a current complement of six teams. Wildcats is an excellent opportunity for girls to kick start their football journey and we expect this amazing growth to continue, giving girls in the local area their chance to play the beautiful game.

All our coaches are fully qualified, have successfully undertaken enhanced DBS checks and have completed both Safeguarding and First Aid courses

Merstham Wildcats is run by Sarah Collett, an FA qualified coach, who as well as being Merstham FC's Welfare Officer, also plays for, and runs Merstham FC Ladies

Under 9s

Although new this season, the U9s have certainly kicked off the season with a bang! Most of the girls in the squad have been attending the Saturday morning wildcats and wanted to experience being part of a team and taking part in competitive matches.
The girls work extremely hard on developing their skills in particular passing which has been a challenge for some!

Their dedication is paying off as they continue to dominate on the field. Keep up the great work, U9s!

Under 10s

This is the first season for the U10 girls team, playing in the Surrey County Women and Girls League. The girls began their journey attending Merstham Wildcats and came together this season as a team. They have started the season well with a mixed bag of results but their improvement week on week is fantastic. They are growing in confidence and really coming together as a team. We are looking forward to watching them grow as the season progresses.

Under 12s Black Panthers

The U12 Black Panthers are another team who were formed from the highly successful Wildcats sessions, and this is their second season, their first at 9 a side. The girls play in the Surrey County Women and Girls league.

The girls concluded their first season together by winning the first ever Merstham Girls Tournament.

The team have welcomed 2 new players, who have fitted straight in, and they always work hard to improve themselves both together as a team and as individual players.

With a strong start to the season, we sat top of our league over the Christmas period, the girls hitting the back of the net and keeping clean sheets; a result of their hard work. A frustrating start to the second half of the season saw our first 2 defeats, but the girls are incredibly dedicated, passionate and love the game and we are looking forward to the rest of the season!

Under 12s   Tigresses

This is the second season for the U12 Tigresses. Like many of our other girls teams, they began their football journey attending Wildcats, and from this, the team was formed.

They played their first season in the Epsom and Ewell league, where they had a fantastic season, and subsequently progressed to nine a side, boosting the squad with brilliant new players.

They have begun strong in the Surrey County Women and Girls League where they are title contenders. The girls have developed so well as a team, and individually, in this new competitive league, and the new players have fitted straight in, only strengthening the girls further.

Very exciting times ahead for the U12 Tigresses.

Under 14s

This is the first year for the girls as they’ve come together to form Merstham’s U14 girls team. Captained by Ada-May, the team have developed their skills massively across the first half of the season showing strength all the way from the back through to their attacking play. The team has really gelled both on and off the pitch and have the potential to finish the season strong.

Under 15s

This is the first season for the U15 girls at Merstham Youth FC and whilst the team is new, the core of the team is in its 5th year together with their coach playing in the SCWGL. A team of young girls with mixed abilities that strive to play the game the right way, the Merstham way. They play with true commitment and passion but always with a smile. A group of girls who have bonded on and off the pitch, with a coach and assistant who encourages them to develop both as players and people on and off the pitch.
